John 1:40-49

40 ^aOne of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first *found his own brother Simon and *said to him, “We have found the ^bMessiah” (which translated means ^{▼▼Gr Anointed One}Christ). 42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of ^{▼▼Gr Joannes
,} ^eJohn; you shall be called ^fCephas” (which is translated ^{▼▼I.e., Rock or Stone in Gr

43 ⁱThe next day He ^{▼▼Or resolved}decided to go to ^kGalilee, and He *found ^lPhilip. And Jesus *said to him, “ ^mFollow Me.” 44 Now ⁿPhilip was from ^oBethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 ^pPhilip *found ^qNathanael and *said to him, “We have found Him of whom ^rMoses wrote in the Law, and ^sthe prophets also wrote: Jesus ^tthe son of Joseph, from ^uNazareth!” 46 Nathanael said to him, “ ^vCan anything good be from Nazareth?” ^wPhilip *said to him, “Come and see.” 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and *said of him, “Here is truly an ^xIsraelite, in whom there is no deceit!” 48 Nathanael *said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before ^yPhilip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” 49 Nathanael answered Him, “ ^zRabbi, You are ^aathe Son of God; You are the ^abKing of Israel!”
